Have fun learning to cook!

After 15 years of professional cooking and catering, we think it’s time to share our knowledge and know-how with the introduction of small group cookery lessons.  Focusing on healthy, seasonal food, our demonstration-based classes will draw on our unique combination of professional skill and domestic know-how.  We’ll show you lots of handy tips and techniques and let you into a few tricks of the trade to help you broaden your cookery knowledge, make cooking easier, and hopefully inspire you to cook new things.

Led by Forkful founder Ruth Weighill, our small-group (maximum 6 people) classes are sociable, practical, informative and fun.

You can book lessons individually, or why not get a group of friends together for a joint session?  And if there is someone in your life who you think would love to attend a class, you could treat them to a gift voucher.

Five Simple Suppers:

For midweek inspiration, you can join us for our “Five Simple Suppers” classes.  Whether you are cooking for just yourself, you and your partner, or for family, getting food on the table can turn into a dreaded daily chore.  Each month we’ll offer two different “Simple Suppers” classes.  Each 3 hour class will teach you five delicious, nutritionally balanced, nutrient-dense dishes featuring meat, fish, poultry, vegetarian/vegan, and “store cupboard” recipes.  Dishes will be quick and easy to prepare using good, seasonal ingredients and will help you easily achieve 30+ plant foods per week with a healthy balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates (including the all-important fibre).  We will also give you suggestions for adapting the recipes with different ingredients or to fit specific dietary needs.

Classes are relaxed, sociable and fun.  You will be greeted on arrival with a hot drink and a sweet treat (with the recipe to take home with you) before Ruth’s demonstration begins.  You’ll break halfway through to enjoy the first 3 dishes with a glass of wine, before resuming the demonstration, then taste the remaining recipes – with another glass of wine if you wish!

You will take home detailed recipe sheets and hopefully a wealth of new ideas, knowledge and inspiration!

Dinner Party Inspiration:

Such a great opportunity to be inspired in the kitchen and to pick up some helpful hacks from a professional. 

For something a bit more elevated, you can join our Dinner Party Inspiration classes.  If you love entertaining, enjoy cooking for your friends and love getting new inspiration or learning new techniques, our dinner party classes will be right up your street.  But if you don’t love entertaining and the thought of cooking a dinner party brings you out in a cold sweat, these classes will give you the confidence (and hopefully the cooking enjoyment) that has so far eluded you.  Each month our 3 ½ hour Dinner Party classes will show you how to make a delicious three course dinner party menu which focuses on seasonal ingredients that are easy to find in supermarkets with dishes that  can all be prepared ahead of time for stress-free entertaining. 

In a relaxed, small group setting, you will be greeted on arrival with a cup of tea or coffee (or glass of wine) and a canapé (recipe included) before settling into a fun and informative demonstration of this month’s menu. You will be tasting the food as we go along (with a glass of wine).  We’ll give you lots of tips on how to get ahead, easy ingredient swaps, and advice on what to do if something goes wrong.  We’ll also provide time plans and shopping lists to help you get organised and keep your cooking on track as well as recipes for vegetarian or vegan alternatives.

My ideas for what to cook were jaded – but not my palate! Over a few hours Ruth gave new ideas, recipes, fantastic top tips and most importantly – confidence to go out and cook again! She’s a brilliant teacher.

I liked the way we just watched the process and asked questions as they cropped up.

There is no substitute for seeing things live: smelling and tasting are so much part of the process. The final dishes looked as good as they tasted. This just can’t be garnered from a cookery book.

Five really delicious and different simple, inexpensive recipes which can be seamlessly incorporated into a new repertoire.  A gentle and hugely enjoyable culinary boot camp for tired cooks – I loved every minute.
